Language & Cognition in the Bilingual Brain: From Infancy to Adolescence
Project Team: Kai Ian Leung, Lindsay Williams, Christine Muscat, Hayley Ostrega
Project Description: Much of the literature on brain areas related to language processing and cognition (thinking) in a child population has focused on monolingual children. Our knowledge on these areas in bilingual children is fairly limited, however, some research has found differences from monolinguals. This review will synthesize neuroimaging studies of brain areas when conducting language and cognitive tasks in a bilingual child population and compare it to the known research on monolingual children.
