Emily is a registered Speech-Language Pathologist, who recently completed her PhD in the Bilingual and Multilingual Development (BAM!) Lab. Her dissertation focused on the development of a clinically informed, quasi-linguistically universal dynamic assessment of early word reading skills for bilingual kindergarteners. Through her research she aims to promote more equitable, valid, and culturally responsive assessment practices for linguistically diverse children. She is now an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the department of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto.
